MSN Prompts You to Install Rifff Files from CD-ROM

SYMPTOMS

When you connect to MSN, The Microsoft Network, you may be prompted to install Rifff files from the MSN CD-ROM.

CAUSE

An incomplete download of MSN content containing Rifff components may cause this issue to occur the next time you connect to MSN.

RESOLUTION

Reinstall the Interactive Music Architecture component from the MSN CD-ROM. To do so, use the following steps:

  1. Insert the MSN CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. If the Welcome To MSN window appears, close it.

  2. Double-click My Computer.

  3. Right-click the CD-ROM drive, and then click Explore.

  4. Double-click the Msnsetup folder.

  5. Double-click the Compnts folder.

  6. Double-click the Imthart.exe file.

  7. If you are prompted to restart your computer, click Yes.
