SYMPTOMS
When you add a field to your query in the Query Wizard, you may receive an
error message that is similar to the following
<Table>.<Column> is not a column of an inserted table, updated table, or
any table identified in a FROM clause.
where <Table> is the name of the table you are working with and <Field> is
the name of the field that you are trying to add.
CAUSE
This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:
- You have created a correlation name or alias for a table that is the
same as the name of an existing table in your database.
-and-
- You are using the Query Wizard to build your query.
RESOLUTION
To correct this problem, obtain Microsoft Excel 97 Service Release 2
(SR-2). For additional information about SR-2, please see the following

To work around the problem temporarily, click to clear the "Use the Query
wizard to create/edit queries" check box in the Choose Data Source dialog
box.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Query 97 for
Windows. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 97 Service Release
2 (SR-2).
