SYMPTOMS

When you try to install additional components from the Internet Explorer 4.0 Components Download page, an invalid page fault may occur in Kernel32.dll. After the error message is displayed, your computer may not restart properly or at all.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you do not have enough free hard disk space to install the selected components.

RESOLUTION

Increase the amount of free space on your hard disk by using one or more of the following methods:

After you free some hard disk space, try to install the additional component again.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows 95. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
