SYMPTOMSAfter you install Internet Explorer, it may not become your default Web browser.
CAUSEThis problem can occur if you install Internet Explorer on a Windows 95- based or Windows NT-based computer on which Windows 95 or Windows NT was originally installed by the computer's manufacturer using the OEM Preinstallation Kit.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
