The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you download Internet Explorer version 4.0 from an FTP server and then try to upgrade Internet Explorer version 3.x, the installation process may stop responding (hang).
CAUSEInternet Explorer 4.0 files can become damaged when you download them from a busy FTP server because of a problem in Internet Explorer 3.x.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, follow these steps:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
