The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows 95

SYMPTOMS

When you click an item in the Favorites Explorer Bar, you may receive the following error message 

   Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module <module>
where <module> may be <unknown> or Shdocvw.dll.

CAUSE

The item you clicked has a file name of 190 characters or more.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:

  • Change the name of the item to a name that is shorter than 190 characters. To rename an item, click Organize Favorites on the Favorites menu, click the item, and then click Rename.
  • Right-click the item in the Favorites Explorer Bar, and then click Open.
