Error Message: Cannot Complete the Upgrade. There Is Not...

SYMPTOMS

When you sign in to MSN, The Microsoft Network, you may be prompted to upgrade your MSN software. If you click Yes, you may receive the following error message:

   Cannot complete the upgrade. There is not enough disk space available
   to complete this upgrade. To free disk space, try emptying the Recycle
   Bin or removing unneeded files from your hard disk.

If you click No, your connection to MSN is closed.

CAUSE

The Msnver.txt file may be missing or damaged.

RESOLUTION

Reinstall Microsoft Internet Explorer from the MSN CD-ROM. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Insert the MSN 2.0 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. If the Auto Insert Notification option is turned on, close the Welcome To MSN window that opens on the desktop.

  2. Double-click My Computer.

  3. Right-click the CD-ROM drive icon, and then click Explore.

  4. Double-click the Msnsetup folder.

  5. Double-click the Compnts folder.

  6. Double-click the Msie301.exe file.

  7. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.
