Remove the OAB Service from Your Profile

1. On the Tools menu, click Services.
2. Click the Outlook Address Book service, then click Remove.
3. Click Yes to the prompt to remove the service.
4. Click OK to close the Services dialog box.
5. Exit and Log Off Outlook.

Rename and Replace the Contab32.dll File

1. In Windows Explorer, locate the Contab32.dll file (usually found in the Windows\System directory).
2. Right-click Contab32.dll and on the shortcut menu click Rename.
3. Type a new name for the Contab32.dll, such as Contab32.dlx.
4. Copy a new Contab32.dll file from the \System folder of your Office CD.
5. Right-click the new Contab32.dll file in your hard drive's System folder and from the context-sensitive menu, click properties.
6. Click to uncheck the Read-only attribute and click OK.

Add the OAB Service to Your Profile

1. Start Outlook.
2. On the Tools menu, click Services.
3. Click Add, click Outlook Address Book, and click OK to close all dialog boxes.
4. Exit and Log Off Outlook.
5. Restart Outlook.

NOTE: It may be necessary to re-register Outlook before you can add the OAB service to your profile.

To Re-register the Office Programs

1. Close any running Office programs, including the Office Shortcut Bar.
2. Insert the Office 97 (or Outlook 97) compact disc in the drive.
3. Click the Start button and Click Run.
4. Type <CD drive letter>:\Setup.exe /y and click OK.
5. When the Microsoft Office 97 Setup starts, click Reinstall.
