WD5x: System 7.6 Incompatible with Word 5 Voice Annotation

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade to Macintosh Operating System (OS) version 7.6, you may receive the following error message when you attempt to insert and record a voice annotation into a document:

   The application 'unknown' has unexpectedly quit, because an error of
   type 87 occurred".

This problem occurs when you click OK or CANCEL to return to the document from the voice annotation dialog box.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, upgrade to Macintosh Operating System version 7.6.1.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem does not occur with versions of Macintosh System software earlier than version 7.6 (for example, this problem does not occur with version 7.5.5).
