Freeloader Program Says Internet Explorer Could Not Be Started

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows 95
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows NT 4.0

SUMMARY

When you try to start the Freeloader program you may receive the following error message:

   The Microsoft Internet Explorer Web Browser could not be started. You 
   will not be able to use Freeloader until you start Microsoft Internet 
   Explorer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 1. This problem does not occur with Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2. To obtain Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

   http://www.microsoft.com/ie/ie40/

After you receive the error message, Freeloader starts and works properly. The amount of time it takes for Freeloader to start varies depending on the speed of your Internet connection.
