Clock Reappears on Taskbar After Being Turned Off

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows 95
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows NT 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you clear the Show Clock check box in Taskbar properties, the clock reappears when you restart Windows, even though the Show Clock check box is cleared.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, you must clear the Show Clock check box each time you start Windows. To clear the check box, follow these steps:

  1. Use the right mouse button to click an empty area on the taskbar, and then click Properties on the menu that appears.

  2. Click the Show Clock check box to clear it.

  3. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 1. This problem does not occur with Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2. To obtain Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
