Setup Does Not Report File Name in Update Warning Dialog Box

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows NT 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you are installing Internet Explorer 4.0 in Windows NT, the Confirm File Replace dialog box may be displayed. When this occurs, the following files are listed:

  • Source: C.
  • Destination: C:

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if a Beta version of NetMeeting 2.0 was previously installed. Windows NT does not report the file names to Internet Explorer Setup, so Setup cannot list the file names.

RESOLUTION

Click No in the Confirm File Replace dialog box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 1. This problem does not occur with Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2. To obtain Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
