WD: Graphics Print Incorrectly to Some PostScript PrintersArticle ID: Q166020Creation Date: 28-MAR-1997 Revision Date: 23-APR-1997
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMS
A document created in Word 95 (Word 7.0) that contains drawing objects or
other metafiles (WMFs) may not print correctly to some PostScript printers
after you open it in Word 97 or after you upgrade to Word 97.
The metafile objects may be printed as stretched, squished, or cropped
objects (as though only a portion of the object is trying to fill the
object's allocated area).
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the PostScript printer is set to a graphics
resolution with different values for horizontal and vertical resolutions,
such as 600 X 300 dpi.
This problem has been reported to occur with the following printer drivers:
Method 1: Change the Printer's Resolution
Method 2: Print to a PCL Printer
Install and print your document using the PCL printer driver. This is a non-
PostScript printer driver.
Method 3: Delete and Redo the Objects
Delete the affected objects and re-create or re-insert them. Then, save the
document in Word 97.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this
problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge
Base as it becomes available.
