  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows 95
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows NT 4.0

SYMPTOMS

After you undock a toolbar from the taskbar, programs that are currently running may no longer appear on the taskbar.

CAUSE

A dockable toolbar was dragged completely over the taskbar as it was undocked. This may cause the taskbar to appear as a duplicate of the undocked toolbar instead of displaying the programs that are currently running.

RESOLUTION

Once the problem has occurred, you should restart Windows in order for running tasks to appear on the taskbar.

To prevent this from occurring, do not drag a dockable toolbar completely over the taskbar when you are undocking it.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 1. This problem does not occur with Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2. To obtain Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

   http://www.microsoft.com/ie/ie40/

MORE INFORMATION

This problem occurs only when you are running Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 in Integrated Shell mode.
