SYMPTOMSWhen you change your computer name after installing Internet Explorer 4.0 for Windows 95, several files may be copied to your hard disk from the Windows 95 or OEM Service Release CD-ROM. When this occurs, the following message may be displayed:
A file being copied is older than the file currently on your computer.
It is recommended that you keep your existing file.
File name: SECUR32.DLL
Description: Microsoft Win32 Security Services
Your version: <version>
Do you want to keep this file?
CAUSEThis message is displayed because the Internet Explorer 4.0 installation program replaces the Secur32.dll file on your hard disk with a newer version of the file. If Windows 95 attempts to copy the Secur32.dll file from the Windows 95 or OEM Service Release CD-ROM when you change your computer name after installing Internet Explorer 4.0, the version of the file it is attempting to copy is older than the copy of the file on your hard disk.
RESOLUTIONIf the message is displayed when you change your computer name after installing Internet Explorer 4.0, click Yes to keep the existing file.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 1. This problem does not occur with Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2. To obtain Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
