PRB: Licensing Problem - Unable to Start SOFTIMAGE 3D

  • Softimage 3D for Windows NT, version 3.51

SYMPTOMS

After installing FLEXlm, you are unable to start SOFTIMAGE 3D version 3.51 and 3.7.

CAUSE

If you received your SOFTIMAGE 3D (SI3D) License Confirmation by e-mail, lines that are particularly long in your license file may wrap around to the next line. This usually affects the line that lists the SI3D options that you requested (the COMPONENTS line). If you enter your license in this format, you will get an error message when you try to run SI3D.

A backslash ( \ ) represents a line that must be continued on the next line. It implies the continuation of a long line (this is by design). If a backslash ( \ ) appears in the middle of a line, it has been incorrectly wrapped by a mailer/text editor. When this occurs, this is considered a typographical error, which results in an error message when you try to start SI3D. To ensure that this does not occur, request a fax version of the License Confirmation. If you already have one, compare the fax version to the e-mail version.
