  • Softimage 3D for Windows NT, version 3.51

SUMMARY

If you are unable to start SOFTIMAGE 3D after installation, and you have confirmed that you do not have a typographical error (spelling mistake, or a line entered incorrectly), it may be necessary to disable your Network Card. This establishes that TCP/IP is not causing the problem, but is related to your Network Card; your Network card may not be working properly or the driver/adapter was incorrectly installed.

MORE INFORMATION

  1. To disable the network card for Windows NT 4.0, from the Control Panel>Network>Adapters, select the desired adapter, then click Remove.

  2. To add the MS Loopback Adapter, click Add.

  3. From the Select Network Adapter scroll box, select MS Loopback Adapter.

  4. Accept "802.3" as the frame type (common Ethernet protocol).

  5. If you are prompted for an IP address, enter any ID (ie: 10.10.10.10.). Accept the default Subnet mask value.

  6. You must reboot your computer for the change to take effect.

You now have an MS Loopback Adapter installed. If you are able to successfully launch SOFTIMAGE 3D, then TCP/IP was not the cause of the problem.

For Windows NT 4.0, you can have both an MS LoopBack and a regular Network card installed.
