SUMMARY

This procedure is provided to show you how to create a geodesic sphere.

  1. Create an icosohedron (Get -> Primative -> Icosohedron).

  2. Choose Polygon -> Fractalize, and select only Subdivide from the dialog box that appears. Enter a value of 1 for Iterations, and 0 for the other parameters. This sub-divides the triangular faces into more triangles.

  3. Create a couple of patch spheres (Get -> Primative -> Sphere) with high U and V (steps of 30) subdivision.

  4. Choose Deformation -> ShrinkWrap to shrink the new subdivided Icosohedron onto the inner sphere.

You now have a geodesic sphere. You can increase the number of facets by repeating the Fractalize and ShrinkWrap procedures.
