- Softimage 3D for Windows NT, version 3.51
SUMMARY
The SOFTIMAGE 3D (SI3D) version 3.51 install program was written for
Windows NT version 3.51, so when you install SI3D on NT 4.0 certain
shortcuts must be modified in order to work properly. This should be done
as Administrator, or a member of the Administrators group. The following
procedure lists the affected shortcuts and the necessary modifications:
MORE INFORMATION
- Open Windows NT Explorer and select the drive where Windows NT is
installed.
- Select the USERS folder. Make sure there is a folder within USERS
that has the same name as your username. (If you are logged on as
Administrator, there should be a folder named administrator within
the USERS folder.)
- Open a series of folders to access the SI3D shortcuts. Start with
the folder that contains Windows NT (usually WINNT), then open the
following folders in this order: Profiles, All Users, Start Menu,
Programs, and finally the Softimage v3.51 folder. The shortcuts that
must be edited are in the Softimage folder.
- To edit a shortcut right-click on it and in the Properties dialog
box that appears, click the Shortcut tab.
Using the above method, make the following changes:
- To the Edit LICENSE.DAT shortcut: Edit the "Target". Remove the
quotes from around the target, and remove the C:\ before
notepad.exe. Also make sure the "Start in" directory is C:\flexlm.
- To the Edit SETENV.BAT shortcut: Edit the "Target". Remove the
quotes from around the target, and remove the C:\ before
notepad.exe.
- To the SI3D 3.51 shortcut: Edit the "Start in" directory to
C:\USERS\%username% (if Windows NT is installed on a different drive
your USERS directory will also be on that drive). This ensures that
newly created databases default to the USERS directory rather than
inside the SI3D directory structure.
