SUMMARY

The Effect -> Subdivision command is not a persistent effect such as PolygonReduction, they are different operations with different functionality. For example, if you apply Effect -> Subdivision to a polygon and choose a value of 4, then again apply the effect with a subdivision of 2, the subdivision of 2 will not replace the subdivision of 4. Alternately, it adds 2 subdivisions to the object not taking the previous 4 subdivisions into account. If you wish to change the number of subdivision, you must undo the operation and apply the desired value.
