INFO: Using mental ray To Render Empty Frames For Shaders

SUMMARY

If you need to initiate mental ray for shaders, or for any other reason that does not involve rendering geometry, you must have at least one triangle in the frame/scene, even if it is not within the camera view. If you try to render an empty frame with mental ray, you will get a syntax error. This was implemented by design.
