Last reviewed: June 30, 1997
Article ID: Q165261
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, versions 5.0, 5.0a

SYMPTOMS

When you view a dialog sheet in print preview, the custom dialog box on the dialog sheet may appear formatted in a solid color or in black. Also, when you print the dialog sheet, the custom dialog box may be printed in solid black. Controls on the custom dialog box may be printed as solid white objects.

RESOLUTION

To print preview or print a custom dialog box in Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, do the following:

  1. Switch to the dialog sheet you want to print.

  2. Press COMMAND+SHIFT+3.

This step takes a picture of the screen and creates a file named Picture X (where X is an integer starting at 1) on the hard disk.

  3. In the Finder, open the hard disk and double-click the file you created in step 2.

The picture is opened in SimpleText.

  4. Drag the pointer (a cross-hair) over the outline of the custom dialog box.

  5. On the Edit menu, click Copy.

  6. Switch to Microsoft Excel and click a blank worksheet.

  7. On the Edit menu, click Paste.

The custom dialog box is pasted as a picture in the worksheet.

  8. On the File menu, click Print Preview.
