Before you edit the registry, you should first make a backup copy of the
registry files (System.dat and User.dat). Both are hidden files in the
Windows folder.

This article explains how to remove a Run From CD installation of
Microsoft Office 97 from your computer.

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall Windows 95. Microsoft cannot guarantee that
problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be
solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
For information about how to edit the registry, view the Changing Keys And
Values online Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe). Note that you
should make a backup copy of the registry files (System.dat and User.dat)
before you edit the registry.
To remove a Run From CD installation of Microsoft Office 97 from your
computer, use the following steps:
If a dialog box appears and notifies you that programs are running,
quit the programs, and then click OK.
NOTE: If Microsoft Office 97 does not appear on the Add/Remove Programs
list, proceed to step 5 below.
If you are prompted to restart the computer after Setup is finished,
restart the computer.

NOTE: Other software programs may use the Microsoft Shared and ODBC
folders that Microsoft Office 97 creates. Deleting these folders may
cause other programs that use the folders to fail to function properly.
When this occurs, reinstall the programs.

NOTE: The <user name> is the name of the user who is logged on to the
computer. If multiple users logged on to the computer using different
user names, each user has separate .acl and .pcb files. All of these
files can be deleted. The outlook.pst file is installed in the Windows
folder and may also be deleted. It is the personal mail file for
Microsoft Outlook.

and then select and delete each value that refers to the CD-ROM drive
letter.

and then select and delete each value that refers to the CD-ROM drive
letter and the Office or OS folders. For example, if your CD-ROM drive
letter was D:, you would want to delete any value that refers to
D:\Office or D:\OS.
