WD97: Time Out Parameter Doesn't Work with Some Dialog Boxes

Last reviewed: July 31, 1997

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word 97 for Windows

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Timeout argument with the Display method, the specified dialog box may not be closed automatically.

STATUS

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

The Timeout argument sets the amount of time to wait before closing a dialog box automatically. One unit is approximately 0.01 second. Concurrent system activity may increase the effective time value. If this argument is omitted, the dialog box is closed when the user closes it.

The following dialog boxes (represented by their constants here), when used in conjunction with the Dialogs collection, will not be closed automatically when you use the Timeout argument:

  • wdDialogToolsCustomize
  • wdDialogToolsCustomizeMenus
  • wdDialogFileNew

For more information about the Display method, from the Visual Basic for Applications Editor, click the Office Assistant, type "Display Method," click Search, and then click to view "Display Method."

NOTE: If the Assistant is hidden, click the Office Assistant button on the Standard toolbar. If Microsoft Help is not installed on your computer, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
