SYMPTOMS

The error message "Permission Denied" occurs after you upgrade your machine from Windows NT3.51 to Windows NT4.0.

CAUSE

You are unable to start SOFTIMAGE 3D, because the FLEXlm license service can not be started.

RESOLUTION

You must remove and reinstall FLEXlm. To do this, complete the following steps:

  1. To remove flexlm, at a DOS command prompt, enter the following command:

          C:\<flexlm path>\install remove

  2. Enter the following command making sure to type the full path, otherwise it may not work:

          C:\flexlmpath\install C:\flexlmpath\lmgrd.exe

  3. Go into Control Panel > Services and Start the flexlm license services.

SOFTIMAGE 3D should now start.
