HOWTO: Reduce SOFTIMAGE 3D's Start-up Time

Last reviewed: February 21, 1997

The information in this article applies to:
  • Softimage 3D for Windows NT, versions 3.01, 3.51

SUMMARY

When you start SOFTIMAGE 3D, the software must verify that the client machine is licensed. Because the license resides on the Server, validation can take a few minutes. However, if you put the Server address in the host file of the client machine, the time that this process takes is greatly reduced.

The path for client's host file is:

   \winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Once you have added the Server address to this file, you will notice a reduction in SOFTIMAGE 3D's start-up time.
