INFO: Question: How Do I Run My Stand-alone Options?

Last reviewed: February 21, 1997
Article ID: Q163986
The information in this article applies to:
  • Softimage 3D for IRIX, versions 3.5, 3.51
  • Softimage 3D for Windows NT, versions 3.01, 3.51

SUMMARY

To obtain usage information for a specific standalone, type its name in a shell and hit Enter. Syntax is important, consider the following information about stand-alone options:

  • Enter them in the order they appear in the usage information.
  • They are case sensitive on both NT and Irix platforms.

You should always include the rsrc path if it is an option:
  • on NT platforms: %SI_LOCATION%\3D\bin\rsrc
  • on SGI platforms: $SI_LOCATION/3D/rsrc

Launch the stand-alone options from the directory where the file(s) that you are working with are located. For example, if you are using soft2tga, cd to the directory where the .pic files you wish to convert are located, then execute the stand-alone option.

For IRIX only: Ensure that your environment variables are set correctly by sourcing the appropriate .softimage file.

For NT only: Always execute the standalones from the SI_3D Command Prompt.

For NT only: Confirm that your DatabaseDir.rsrc file is in the correct location. Open Edit SetEnv.bat, check the directory specified for the SI_DBDIR environment variable path, and ensure your DatabaseDir.rsrc file resides in that location. If your DatabaseDir.rsrc is located in $SI_LOCATION\3D\bin, you may not be properly set up as a Softimage user.
