SUMMARY

This article demonstrates a procedure to provide a method for applying textures to different faces of a cube.

MORE INFORMATION

  1. Choose Get>Primitive>Sphere, then select it.

  2. Choose Matter>Material and assign any colored material. For best viewing in the Paint module, use Lambert or Constant.

  3. Choose Matter>Texture>2D_Local (or Global). Select an image to map to the cube, and then click Accept.

  4. Choose Matter>Paint. Below the Shade window, activate UV editing. A prompt appears warning you of the conversion. Click OK.

  5. In the Shade window, with the spacebar held down, left-click and drag across the polygons that you wish to edit. The selected polygon outlines on the 2D image turn red.

  6. In the 2D texture window (not 3D Shade window), edit the UV textures by holding down the 'm' key, left-click and hold on the UV you want to edit, then drag it to where you want it. Release the mouse button when the UV is in the desired place. If multiple-connected polygons are selected, the UV's of those polygons move in unison when dragging a handle.

  7. To edit different polygons, press the spacebar and right-click to clear the selections, then repeat steps 5 and 6. Note that selecting polygons is always done in the 3D window, while moving the UV values is always done in the 2D texture window.

  8. When you are finished editing, click Accept. When a prompt appears, click Ok to Save/Rename your image.

  9. To erase UV editing, go into the 2D texture editor and change the mapping method to XY, YZ, etc.
