PUB3: Can't Use Word Story Editing After Upgrading to Word 97

SYMPTOMS
========

The "Edit Story in Microsoft Word" command is no longer on the Edit menu in
Publisher version 3.0. In addition, when you right-click a text frame, The
"Edit Story in Microsoft Word" command does not appear on the shortcut
menu.

This problem does not occur if you are using Microsoft Publisher 97.

CAUSE
=====

This problem occurs when you install Word 97 for Windows on your computer.
When you start Publisher, it examines the Windows Registry to determine
where to find Word version 7.0. When you install Word 97, a new path is
written to the registry, which Publisher does not interpret as a compatible
version of Word. Publisher disables the Word Story Editing feature and the
"Edit Story in Microsoft Word" command does not appear on the menus.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft 
Publisher 97.
