SUMMARY

If SOFTIMAGE 3D locks-up during an operation, the information in this article shows you how to shut-down SOFTIMAGE 3D and force an autosave.

MORE INFORMATION

  1. Press Alt-F9 to decrease the size of the SOFTIMAGE 3D window.

  2. Open a winterm shell and enter the command: killall -SEGV soft

The SOFTIMAGE 3D icon disappears from your screen.

  3. If you have more than one copy of SOFTIMAGE 3D running, enter the command "ps" to get its process number, then enter the command: kill -SEGV 12345

Where, 12345 is the process number of SOFTIMAGE 3D.

Do not do this more than once, as it forces SOFTIMAGE 3D to stop trying to save.
