  • Softimage 3D for Windows NT, version 3.51

SUMMARY

In this procedure you will configure an ETHERNET connection between an ACCOM and an NT machine. This connection enables the SOFTIMAGE 3D version 3.51 for Windows NT(r) to recognize the ACCOM DDR.

MORE INFORMATION

ACCOM MODIFICATIONS

  1. Connect the ACCOM to the network cables.

  2. Press F9 to access the REMOTE menu and then enter a specific IP address.

  3. In the REMOTE menu, select the proper ethernet connection: AUI or BNC (check at the back of the ACCOM to determine which connection you have used).

Please note that menu options may differ according to the Accom software version

  4. Reboot the ACCOM for the changes to take place.

NT MODIFICATIONS

  1. On your NT machine, edit the HOSTS file found in \\WINNT35\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC, by adding the following information:

    - add the IP address of the ACCOM (equal to the IP address previously

         set on the ACCOM)

    - add the name of the accom with the domain name - add the short name for the accom (use any name)

  2. Set the following three environment variables by editing the SETENV.BAT file which is located in %SI_LOCATION%\3D\bin\rsrc:

    - SI_IODEVICE_RSRC needs to point to the path of the config file

         SI_IODevice.cfg (e.g. C:\SOFT3D_3.51\3D\bin\rsrc).

    - SI_IODEVICE_PATH needs to point to the iodevices dll s (e.g.

         C:\SOFT3D_3.51\3D\dso\SI_IODevice).

    - SI_TVSTD needs to point to 525 if you are working in NTSC or 625 if

         you are working with PAL.

  3. Make the following changes to the file called SI_IODevice.cfg which is located in %SI_LOCATION%\3D\bin\rsrc:

    - In the [Devices] section, look for the line that refers to ACCOM with

the proper transport device number (which is described in the
[Transport Device] section). Verify that name of the Accom matches
the name used in TOOLS>Accom>(Record or Grab)>Accom host name.

    - Check the device number (4), then go to the line for the

         corresponding SI_TransportDevice# (SI_TransportDevice4) and verify
that the device name - accom - matches the name in
         C:\WINNT35\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS

This is an example of C:\SOFT3.51\3D\bin\rsrc\SI_IODevice.cfg:
