- Microsoft Publisher 97 for Windows
--------------------------------------------------------------------
SUMMARY
=======
If you visit Microsoft's site on the World Wide Web
(www.microsoft.com), you can download a trial version of Microsoft
Publisher 97. This is a fully functional version of Microsoft
Publisher 97. It is identical to the retail version of Microsoft
Publisher 97 with the following exceptions:
1. It does not include all the PageWizard Design Assistants, clip art,
fonts, and graphic import filters that ship with the retail
version.
2. Sixty days after you run it for the first time, it stops operating.
NOTE: Microsoft does not provide telephone or e-mail support for the trial
version. If you have problems using this version, please use the technical
support resources available on the Microsoft World Wide Web site which is
located at the following address (note that this trial version is not
supported by e-mail support or Web Response)

Problems Unique to the Trial Version
====================================
Errors Running Setup
--------------------
If you download the trial version and try to run the setup program,
you may immediately receive one of a number of error messages. These
error messages are usually caused by a problem downloading the trial
version. To resolve these error messages, try downloading the trial
version again.
NOTE: The Publisher 97 Trial Version download page has links to
download the four files that make up the trial version from several
different servers. If you have a problem with your first downloaded
copy, try using a different server next time.
The Trial Version Expires Prematurely
-------------------------------------
Unlike some pre-release (beta) software, the Publisher trial version
doesn't just stop working on a certain date. It checks the system date
when you run it the first time, and then continues to work until sixty
days have elapsed. At that time, the program is designed to expire.
There are some circumstances that can cause the trial version to stop
working prematurely. For example, if you change the date on your
system clock, the trial version may interpret the change as an attempt
to use it longer than sixty days. This causes it to expire
immediately.
Once you receive a message telling you the trial version has expired,
the trial version will not run on that computer again. Microsoft
Technical Support cannot make it start working for you again.
