PUB: Multiple Copies of Book-fold Pages Printed in Wrong Order

SYMPTOMS
========

If you print multiple copies of a single signature from a book-fold
publication, every other copy may print with the pages reversed.

A signature is a sheet of paper that has more than one page printed on it.

For example, if you wish to print four copies of the signature that
contains pages six and three, the copies may print out in the following
order:

   6-3
   3-6
   6-3
   3-6

WORKAROUND
==========

Method 1: Turn off collation

1. On the File menu, click Print.

2. Type the page number of the page you want to print in both the From and
   To text boxes. Publisher automatically calculates which page prints on
   the opposite half of the signature.

3. Type the number of copies you want in the Number of Copies text box.

4. Click to deselect the Collate Copies check box.

5. Click OK.

Method 2: Use Control Panel to set the number of copies

1. If you have Windows 95:

   a. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Printers.

   b. With your right mouse button, click the printer you want to use.
      Click Properties on the menu that appears.

   c. Click the Paper tab.

   d. Type the number of copies you want in the Copies text box.

   If you have Windows 3.1 or 3.11:

   a. From Program Manager, double-click the Control Panel icon.

   b. Double-click the Printers icon.

   c. Click the printer you want to use on the Printers list. Click Setup.

   d. Type the number of copies you want in the Number of Copies text box
      and then click OK.

   e. Click Close to exit the Printers dialog box.

2. Switch to (or start) Publisher.

3. On the File menu, click Print.

4. Type the page number of the page you want to print in both the From and
   To text boxes. Publisher automatically calculates which page prints on
   the opposite half of the signature.

5. Type the number of copies you want in the Number of Copies text box.

6. Click OK.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft 
Publisher for Windows 95, version 3.0.
