SUMMARY

In Microsoft Team Manager you will receive the following error when you try to open two Team Files with the same name:
"The file you are trying to open may be damaged or in a file format that Microsoft Team Manager cannot use, or you are trying to open a file with the same name as the current file."

MORE INFORMATION

You will receive this message if you try to open two team files that have the same name prefix. For example you try to open the following files:
   Team File 1.mtp
   Team File 1.bak

Both of these are valid files, but they can not be opened at the same time, because the Jet Database creates an LDB file for each database that is open. The two files listed above would try to use Team File 1.ldb and this is what generates the error since it would be trying to open the same LDB file twice. The LDB file keeps track of what items are being edited in order to prevent two people from editing the same field at the same time.

This behavior is by design in Microsoft Team Manager.
