There are three basic types of sounds that Windows can play:

• Digitized recorded audio (.wav files)
• Synthesized music (MIDI files)
• Audio pass-through (compact disc audio)

Windows can play only one of each type simultaneously. This means that you can play a .wav file and compact disc audio simultaneously, but you can't play two .wav files at once.

When you record a narration for your presentation, that narration is stored as digitized recorded audio (.wav). When you run your slide show, the narration audio is the only digitized audio that you hear.

NOTE: You can still hear slide transition sound effects because they are played before the narration starts.

If you run your slide show with narration turned off, you can hear the other sounds.
