SUMMARY

The Effect -> PolygonReduction command in the Model module allows you to reduce the number of polygons in a model. There are a variety of advantages to applying this command to your model. However, the Polygon Reduction dialog box presents a complex set of options for you to choose from. To understand all the options that are available, work through the Tutorial Examples on page 346 of the Modelling User s Guide. Once you are more familiar with how your input affects your model, you should consider the following situation if Polygon Reduction fails.

If, after you have applied PolygonReduction to your model it appear to work, but the modifications are not applied to your model, there may be a problem with your TEMP directory.

What to Look For:

  • Verify that your TEMP directory exists.
  • Check that your TEMP directory is not full.
  • Verify that there is a TMP or TEMP variable set.
  • Verify that the directory that the TMP or TEMP variable points to exists.

Once you have verified all of the above, apply the PolygonReduction effect again. If it continues to fail, you may have entered conflicting information in the dialog box.
