How To Edit a .mi File

SUMMARY

SI_ASCII_VECTORS is an environment variable that must be set if you intend to create your .mi file in jot or vi. If this variable is not set before you create the .mi file, when you save the file, it is saved as ASCII data, therefore corrupting the file. It is not recommended to set this variable since it slows down mental ray.

There are however three editors - zip, emacs and vim - that you can use to create your .mi file, and they do not required that you set the environment variable.
