SYMPTOMS

During Merchant Server Setup, the following error message appears after you type a database name in the database text box:
The version of resource DLL odbcint.dll is not valid; you need to reinstall ODBC components.
If you ignore this error, proceed with the installation, and later try to use the starter stores, you may receive the following error message:
This action cannot be completed at this time.
There will be no error message logged in the Windows NT event log, and the store service will still be running.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem is caused by a partial installation of ODBC version 3.0 on the system. For example, if you had installed Microsoft Office 97 on your computer and ignored certain ODBC setup errors, you will have a partial installation of ODBC 3.0. This problem may also be the result of installing the Internet Information Server (IIS) 3.0 beta release.

Copying the Odbcint.dll file from ODBC version 3.0 brings this file into compatibility with the rest of the ODBC components, and allows for successful Merchant Server installation and operation.
