SYMPTOMS

When validating payment information, Merchant Server does a case-sensitive comparison of the card brand name. This may cause problems if the merchant edits card brand names in the template that gives the user a drop-down list of card types in an HTML form.

For example, if the template allows the customer to enter "amex" or "VISA" from either a control or a form, the validation strings used by Merchant Server must contain "amex" or "VISA" among the values accepted, or validation will fail.

WORKAROUND

When entering card brand names in your validation string, make sure that you enter them using the same capitalization as the entries that can be submitted by the customer in the HTML form.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Merchant Server version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
