BUG: Error 8412 When Attempting to Load Table from Tape

    The information in this article applies to:

    • Microsoft SQL Server, version 6.5

    SYMPTOMS

    When you use Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5 on a computer running Windows NT 3.51, attempting to load a table from tape may fail with the following error:

       Msg 8412, Level 16, State 4
       Schemas differ between source table '<table name>' and target table
       '<table name>'. Table load has been aborted for table '<table name>'.
    
    
    WORKAROUND

    To work around this problem, do either of the following:

    • If you are loading the table from a database dump, load the database into a temporary database, dump the table again to disk, and then load the table.

      -or-

    • Upgrade to Windows NT 4.0.

    STATUS

    Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
