SYMPTOMS

If the order-engine cannot load a module (either because the given name doesn't exist or because the file is corrupt), Microsoft Merchant Server returns a message that says "Internal Error." For example, if one of the standard components is renamed in the Clock Peddler starter site (for example, if you rename the "WLStdOrder.OrderValidate" component to "nonexistent.componentname"), you receive the following message in the Windows NT Server event log:
Unable to start: Could not load store clockped
   because
   Cannot initialize OrderEngine
   because
   Internal error

This error message does not provide adequate information about the bad component.

CAUSE

Either the component being loaded is corrupt, or the given name for the component is incorrect or unknown.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, check the given name to make sure that the spelling is correct and the component is known component. If this does not resolve the problem, reload an uncorrupted component.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Merchant Server version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
