SUMMARY

The following information is designed to help you eliminate potential problems when you apply Fractalize to polygon mesh objects.

The Polygon -> Fractalize command allows you to apply fractal iterations to any polygon mesh object that has "triangular" polygons. You must convert your polygon mesh to triangular polygons before you apply Fractalize, otherwise you get an error message.

  1. To do this, use the Effect -> Convert command in the Model module.

  2. Choose the Polygon -> Fractalize command.

  3. When you apply this to a grid, set the Iterations to 1 or 2. Each iteration multiplies the number of triangles by 4, so keep the number reasonably small.

  4. Pick the polygon mesh object that you want to fractalize. The amount of time that your model takes to fractalize depends on the number of polygons it contains.
