The information in this article applies to:
  • Softimage 3D for IRIX, versions 3.0, 3.5
  • Softimage 3D for Windows NT, versions 3.01, 3.51

SYMPTOMS

The camera appears to be frozen when you attempt to orbit.

CAUSE

If you are working with Antialiasing on, then the shade view refresh after an operation takes longer than usual (the length of time depends on the size of the shade mode window). This is why the camera appears to be frozen, but in reality it is refreshing the scene to display the last operation. During the refresh period, 'soft' is not able to process any additional information (for example, orbiting the camera). For a report on the current operation that 'soft' executing, look in the status line.

RESOLUTION

When you have Antialiasing on, you must wait a few seconds between operations to allow 'soft' to complete the refresh process.
