Cannot Install Internet Explorer from Root Folder |
Q159422
When you attempt to install any of the Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows 3.1 versions listed above, you may receive the following error message:
If you click OK, the installation process does not continue. The specified directory:
'<drive>:\IEXPLORE'
is in the Setup source file directory. Please type a different directory.
This behavior occurs if you attempt to install Internet Explorer for Windows 3.1 from the root folder of a drive.
Move the contents of the self-extracting Internet Explorer installation file to an empty folder other than the root folder, and then install Internet Explorer from that folder. For information on how to move a folder, start File Manager, and search Help on moving directories.
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
