No Java Functionality After Reinstalling Internet Explorer |
Q158163
After you reinstall Internet Explorer 3.0, there may be no Java functionality.
Neither the Classes.zip nor Tclasses.zip file is installed. When Internet Explorer is installed, it registers the version of the Classes files in the registry. When Internet Explorer 3.0 is reinstalled, it does not reinstall these files if the version number of the Classes files is greater than or equal to the value in the registry. When version 3.01 is reinstalled, it does not reinstall the files if the version number of the Classes file is greater than the value in the registry.
To restore Java functionality, use either of the following methods:
HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Java VM\ClassesBuild
The situation described in this article can occur if you install Internet Explorer 3.0 and then remove the Java folders for some reason (such as for troubleshooting purposes).
