SYMPTOMS
If you drag your mouse cursor out of the Styles list without choosing
a style, you may receive an error similar to the following:
This application has performed an illegal operation and will be
shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you see the following information:
MSPUB caused an invalid page fault in module MSPUB.EXE at
0137:00457a77.
This problem occurs if you select a range of text that includes text
formatted to two or more different styles. You can tell if this is the
case because the Style list on the toolbar is blank. At this point, if
you pull down the Styles list and, with your left mouse button
pressed, drag your cursor outside the list, you receive the error when
you release the mouse button.
If you do the same thing in Publisher for Windows 95, version 3.0, you
see the Create Styles By Example dialog box.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in
Microsoft Publisher 98.
