PRB: Error Message "Cannot Find SERVER Hostname in Network "

SYMPTOMS

If Softimage 3D seems to be hanging, use Alt+Tab to access the license manager and verify the error message.

The following error message appears:

"Cannot find SERVER hostname in network database; WinSock error code"

CAUSE

The hostname in your license file is wrong.

RESOLUTION

In this procedure, you verify that the hostname in the License.dat file matches the computer name (case is important).

  1. In Control Panel > Network, verify that the Computer Name is the same as the DNS Host Name that is located in the Network Settings dialog box.

  2. Double-click the TCP/IP protocol on the Installed Network Software list, and then click DNS in the Configuration dialog box.

  3. In the DNS Configuration dialog box that appears, compare the Host Name with the Computer Name.
