Errors Reading CD-ROM Drive When Starting Office Shortcut Bar

When the Office Shortcut Bar is started, it makes a call to the Windows registry to get feedback from the Windows NT CD-ROM driver. Under Microsoft Windows NT 3.51, this call produces an error when the Matsushita LF-#1094c PD CD-ROM drive is installed and the drive is empty or contains a read-only compact disc.

NOTE: The error does not appear if the drive contains a writable cartridge.

If the Matsushita PD LF-#1094C CD-ROM drive is installed and the drive does not contain a writable cartridge, this problem occurs in any program that makes a call for feedback from the Windows NT CD-ROM driver.

The following programs or utilities may exhibit this behavior:

• Microsoft System Information (Msinfo.exe)
• Performance Monitor (Perfmon.exe)

This behavior does not occur on a computer running Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows NT, version 4.0.
