Money: Quicken Import Does Not Create Investment Categories

SYMPTOMS

After you convert a Quicken file into Money 5.0 or later, the default Investment Categories are not created and new investment activities are not assigned to a category, which may result in incomplete information in some reports such as the Performance report.

RESOLUTION

You can manually enter the default Investment Categories or enter the categories of your choice.

To enter Investment Categories, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Investments tab, click Investment Categories.
  3. Assign categories and sub-categories to each item.

To track your investment income by category, use the default investment categories in Money, use the imported Quicken investment categories, or enter create your own categories and sub-categories. The following table shows the default investment categories for Money 97 (5.0) and later:
