OFF97: No Help Text Appears in Status Bar for Menu Items

In the programs included in earlier versions of Microsoft Office, such as programs included in Microsoft Office 4.2 and 4.3, and Microsoft Office 7.0, when you point to an item on a menu, a brief description that summarizes the functionality of the menu item appears in the status bar.

For example, in Microsoft Excel 7.0, if you click on the File menu, and then point to Open, the following text appears in the status bar: In Microsoft Office 97 programs, no text appears in the status bar when you point to an item on a menu. This functionality is not available in any of the Microsoft Office 97 programs.
